Actually, I’m listening to “Apologize”. Interesting……

Anyway, this post (unfortunately) will basically be a summary of the entire month of January. I know, it’s pathetic! But “I’m here now” (for Honk people )

January began with the end of vacation and then jumped right into midterms. A few weeks of review packets and teachers trying to cram everything they meant to have already taught you into your head. HONK! rehearsals started being until five for the entire cast, three or four days a week. We’ve started gathering costumes, and I’m starting to realize how soon the actual show is.

This is going to be an awkwardly-shaped post. I have one-sentence paragraphs, then the short one, and now I’m going back to regular old bulleting. I apologize (again).

• Report cards went up on the Montrose site today!
• It’s Brigid’s birthday!
• It’s Giggles’ and Lily’s birthday on Monday!
• Yesterday, I officially passed 350. This is getting ridiculous.
• Oh, and I’m going to be in the 2nd half of the class spelling bee on Monday (hopefully I’ll remember how to spell quotient this year….). I don’t know if I want to go on past that or not. I probably won’t want to learn another set of 250 words this year. So, really, I have no plan. Not that my plan worked out last year (*this is where  I would quote Harry, Deathly Hallows Part 2, but I don’t want that on my website for anyone to see *)
• We had what I called “March before February” a week or so ago. This winter’s been much better than the last. You’ve hardly had any weather reports
• We still don’t have the Xmas pictures up, so I’ll have to give you something random when I finish with this.
• OH! I found out that there was a movie of the book Ballet Shoes, which I read when I was like eight, and then I found out that Emma Watson was (is?) in it. So I got it, and watched it, and am partway through the book. I would be done by now, but I stopped a while ago to read books that were and/or are due first.
• Speaking of books, I finished P&P ages ago, but I don’t know if I told you. Everyone got married. It was wonderful
• Catherine can be scary……

Anyway, it’s vacation, and it’s been ages since I posted. Every day I check my stats and say to myself “I need to post.” And then I realize that NOBODY HAS COMMENTED ON MY LAST 2 POSTS! So I get annoyed with you alll and refuse to post.So I’m asking/begging/demanding/requiring that you comment on this post (and the last two, if you’re willing).

Anyway, there’s other thing taht have been going on. My last post was…..checking…….loading………..

I also love Christmas candy. Like FUDGE. And I love the way a Christmas tree looks, lit up and covered in ornaments, with a  few Christmas-paper-wrapped presents gracing the floor beneath.

Really, I just love Christmas. And it’s just $ days away! I still don’t feel like it’s that close.

As of noon today, Becky and I are both on vacation. NO HOMEWORK FROM MONTROSE!! NOT EVEN ALGEBRA! I’m supposed to be doing something with my 2 weeks, though. Mrs. Baker wants me to work on writing (or, more specifically, finishing). So I’m working on a new-ish retelling. I’ve got most off the characters in the first half of the book figured out, and I’m on the second chapter. It’s been almost annoyingly fast-paced so far, but I’m sure it’ll smooth out soon.  It’s probably just the Baroness trying to jump into the story. Or maybe I’m trying to avoid making it sound like Cinderella, because this wasn’t really meant to be one of those double/combined retellings. Not that there’s anything wrong with them, of course.

I’m also going to read my classic for English. We’re going to make book trailers of whatever it is we read. Pride and Prejudice for me. “A fine choice,” my English teacher said. I love her. She’s awesome. And I’m looking forward to Pride and Prejudice, for two reasons. One is itself. A book is always (or at least usually) a good thing. But after I read it, I get to read 2 more of Shannon Hale’s books. She’s awesome too.

Last Friday I went to Girl Scouts with Becky. It’s a crazy place, I tell you. My hand was sore from the hot-glue gun all night. No one younger than fifth grade was allowed to do their own hot-gluing (the troop starts at preschool age). So guess who did the gluing? That’s right! Abby, the only middle school assistant who decided to help the scouts instead of making her own golf-tee nativity scene.

We had our Montrose Christmas concert. I don’t think I told you about it yet. Middle school sang 3 songs, and the eighth grade sang another by ourselves. So that’s great fun. And as soon as I was finished singing, I had to “book it” (in Mrs. Sullivan’s words) to the backstage room to grab my chimes, because I had the highest two notes (my babies! I love being highest) so I had to go out first to get to my place. But I sort of like that kind of thing, when there’s a very small bit of stress mixed in with a teeny-tiny bit of responsibility and a lot of excitement. Chimes went all right. I had one note that was THE highest note in the whole piece and it had to hold and hold and hold for so long that to make it last, I had to send it way way up in the air. When we were offstage, most people were saying how bad we had done.I just looked at one of the old chimers and said “it was better than last year!”

She laughed. Slightly hysterically.

I got a pamphlet thing for a ninth grade girl’s camp that I’m hoping I’m going to this Summer. Some of the viewers here are planning on going.

Becky, my mom, and I went shopping for Kelly and Leigh presents this afternoon. Actually, we went to UNO’S first. Then we bought things. The smallest sister was disagreeable. She wouldn’t match my color scene, and went all white instead.

Wizard’s duel is on Pottermore! The Puffs are going up, people!

I went to a Christmas party on Saturday and won the first round of “museum”. Sometimes it helps to be the quiet, not-very-hard-to-miss person.

I don’t really know what else is new. I wish I had a picture of the tree to show you, but I don’t yet. So I’ll give you a tree from a few years ago.

Anyway, it’s December. Which means Winter. Which is cold. Which is bad.

But.

It is Advent! Which means it’s Christmasytime! (yes, Christmasy not Christmas. It’s not Xmas yet.) Which means Christmas music and concerts and days off and pole decorating and homeroom decorating and skits and decorations everywhere and everyone being happy.

Which is good.

We went to the Higgins Armory Museum on Thursday, and it was a half day yesterday The museum was AMAZING! They had a room that looked like a medieval Great Hall. I got married. To an abbles viewer. In the museum. My dress was too short and 2 or 3 people tried t stop the wedding. But I won. I wheeled Sam all around and it was really fun! I only banged her into things 3 times! Oh, and yesterday I went to good old SPS (not!) to pick up Becky. I saw Hannah (yes, the Hannah from forever ago) and Dana and I spent a few minutes talking to Caitlin. It’s funny how nothing changes there, but everything is different.

Only 1 chimes left before the concert! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!

I think I have HONK! rehearsal on Monday. It’s still really fun.

I watched Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire yesterday. With Becky.

School is getting crazy busy, as it does in early winter. I don’t even want to think about what my planner will look like in May.

Oh, I haven’t even told you about Thanksgiving! Kelly and Sean came over. Sean said I knew more about Harry Potter than anyone else he’d ever met. Isn’t that strange……….I can’t imagine why…………….

By the way, I half-take back what I said at the beginning of this post. There is one way I like snow. And unless there’s something wrong with your computer (in which case I am most sorry for you), you’re looking at it right now.

• A Montrose alumna who is a PUBLISHED AUTHOR came to school to talk to us! And I got to do a fantasy writing assignment because of her! And she gave us a few good writing tips, like dating and unlined paper!

• went to a Mass of Remembrance today. I did not enjoy it.
• I had pizza the other day.
• I’m already listening to Christmas music

• I watched Home Alone for the first time last night.
• Quiz results for today: Forest Princess, Fiery Fairy (never got that before!), Hot Surfer Boyfriend (um…), Oh-So-Emo (I don’t think so!), Tender Little Angel (better), and Classic Couch Potato (oh yeah!)
• I SAW THE HUNGER GAMES THEATRICAL TRAILER YESTERDAY AND IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!! CAN’T WAIT UNTIL MARCH!

Yesterday was the senior-eighth grade movie night, from 4PM-9PM. I hung around school, eating, buying hot chocolate, and pretending to do homework, until it started. We (my class) changed into our pajamas and went to play games with the seniors. At around 5:30ish we had pizza, and then the SENIOR HUNT!!!!!!!! The whole school had it in Spring 2010,  but then they got rid of it. It was better this time, anyway. There was just the eighth grade, running around the school in our pajamas, trading locations of seniors, running into teachers that were stopping us from going into the parts of the school where there was a college financing thing going on, and getting lost from our groups. I went up some really steep back stairs (of course that wasn’t allowed! You think that stops me? The seniors could have been up there!), at least five flights, past the upstairs teacher offices, into what could only be THE TOWER. It was kind of scary-dark, no lightswitch anywhere, and the floor looked fake, like if we stepped on it it would fall apart. We didn’t go in. Oh, and after the senior hunt we squished onto blankets together to eat popcorn and watch Monte Carlo. It was actually pretty good, and watching a movie with my class was even more fun than I had expected.

I really, really love those people…..

Today, we (me, Mom, Becky) organized the basement. It flooded on Halloween, and the stuff that survived has been stacked up all over the place since then while the carpet dried (and smelled). So today we cleaned, organized, dusted, and THREW THINGS OUT. I’m happy though. I can see the rug AND sit on the futon. (If only I could make Becky clean….). But a lot of the little-kid toys got taken upstairs and wrapped in white plastic bags, to be packed away in the attic until some new children need them. And most of the other little-kid toys were packed into a bigger blue trash bag. They aren’t going to be waiting for other kids, though…

Okay, so on Saturday the 22nd, I went to a JCL Catapult competition in the mountains- a three-hour bus ride each way! It was very fun! We had hot chocolate and found out what goddesses we were most like and catapulted marshmallows like 60 ft. Sylvia and I half-slept on the way there and read Catching Fire on the way back until it got too dark to read and we had to settle for singing Taylor Swift songs.

As for camp, I was in Risk, the best cabin ever! Our counselor was Brooke and our CIT was Megan and there was six of us: Sam, Sylvia, Clara, MaryGrace, me, and our friend Becky (not my sister). Instead of giving you a description, I’ll just give you the pictures and you can find out what we did by scrolling over them and reading my notes.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MOLLY WEASLEY, ONE OF THE AWESOMEST CHARACTERS EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and it’s Halloween tomorrow! We’re doing class ghosting and I’ve got a surprise costume. I went to a Halloween party yesterday and took 76 pictures on my phone. I’ll try to figure out how to get them on the computer. But if I don’t, here: we played games on the freezing porch/sunroom that involved throwing wet stuffed animals at each other and a lot of shouting from our beloved hostess. We ate a lot of food. I took pictures while my friends tried to eat glazed donuts hanging from strings above their heads. We had a haunted basement. I threw my “eyeball” at Jill when she tried to make me eat it so she almost ripped my shoulder off. We ate food. I threw an arm at Ally’s dad. We listened to music and danced some. Oh. and we all wore costumes. And ate food.

There’s snow on the ground. My UGGs are wet but I’m still in denial. But there’s snow, and after last winter, you should all know what that means. The reports are about to begin. Brace yourselves.

Lastly, I.m considering making a new page with book recommendations and/or a list of what I’m currently reading. Thoughts?
